The Genius Cab highlights today’s technological possibilities in the realm of construction machines as
a result of internationally leading suppliers and research institutions joining forces. This project
delivers much more to the industry than merely impulses for integrated systems solutions. We are
developing the Genius Cab as true test vehicle. The Department of Mechanical Engineering greatly
supported the project by providing extensive research work on trends regarding workplaces in mobile
machines across all industries. Based on this research, essential groundwork for success was laid in
the early stages of the conception phase headed by the universities. Establishing a solid network for
the dialogue with industry partners is vital because it ensures continuous development of user knowledge
and detailed know-how. The Genius Cab is a successful example of fundamental research work, innovative
future concepts and finally, real-life testing.
